Jean-Paul Durup is taking more and more responsiblity in the making of these fine Chablis from his father Jean. This family company is based at Maligny in the heart of the region and a few miles north of the town of Chablis. They make wines which are totally unoaked. They age remarkably well and Jean-Paul recently tasted a 1959 which was still as fresh as when its was made.
We are very pleased to stock the following. The "Petit Chablis" is light and crisp and is ideal on its own or with salads and shellfish. The "Chablis" is more complex and has a richness on the palate. We also have two Premier Cru Chablis, "Fourchaume" and "Vau de Vey". The Fouchaume is round full flavoured with a clean long aftertaste. The Vau de Vey is much more minerally with a complex long aftertaste and a very clean freshness. Both these wines complement food extremely well.
