This is one of the oldest properties in the Medoc. It is situated next door to Chateau Mouton Rothschild and covers 120 hectares of which 75 are planted with vines. These consist of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon,20% Merlot, and 12% Cabernet Franc.
Although 1994 is not generally regarded as a great vintage, (it rained at harvest time) Pontet Canet produced a wine of lovely structure.Robert Parker gave it 93 points and spoke very highly of it.
